Björnlund – Our Authentic Sled Dog Village

Schwedischer Vizemeister

We live in Björnlund, a small husky village in northern Sweden. Here you’ll find only our home, a guesthouse, and a kennel area with cozy dog houses that serve as warm places for our four-legged companions. The nearest neighbors live more than 2 km away – pure solitude! Our property covers over 6 hectares of largely untouched land, offering plenty of space for working with the dogs as well as for guests seeking peace and recovery.

What began as a love for dogs and the silence of Lapland has become a way of life: a place where humans and animals live and work in harmony with nature. Our vision was never to create a tourist destination, but a place where sled dogs can live, train, and develop their natural abilities in a species-appropriate way.
For us, sustainability means taking responsibility – for nature, animals, and people. That’s why we focus on quality over quantity, respectful tourism, and genuine mushing far from show and commerce.

Our work unites three worlds:
🐕Professional sled dog racing
❄️Authentic husky experiences
🌲Nature-based mentoring

With us, you’re not just a spectator – you become part of the team. Whether on a dog sledding tour or during a retreat, you’ll experience real involvement, learn to take responsibility, and become gradually integrated – on equal terms with both humans and animals. Our remote location provides the perfect conditions for a genuine escape from everyday life – whether as an adventure holiday or a mindful retreat with mentoring elements. We believe that deep connection doesn’t come from tourist entertainment programs, but from authentic experiences. If you seek nature, clarity, silence, and movement, you’ve come to the right place!

The Alaskan Husky is not an official breed, but a mix of polar, hunting, and sighthound lines. It was purposefully bred as an enduring and fast working dog for sled dog racing, with focus on performance rather than appearance.
That’s why Alaskan Huskies come in many shapes and colors – yet they share common traits: friendly, social, and tough.

In everything we do, our dogs come first. We follow the principle: Dogs first – always.
Each dog is individually trained and supported to develop its natural strengths. Joy, motivation, and mutual trust are the foundation of our work. Our dogs live in small groups and spend their rest days in a large free-run area, where they can interact in bigger packs. We observe, learn, and adapt to maintain social balance for every individual.
All our dogs (with very few exceptions) stay with us for life – from birth to old age. Puppies are bred only for our own team, never for sale. Chronically ill or senior dogs remain in Björnlund and are not rehomed.

Anna – Guide/Mentor/Office

As a guide, I accompany people through the vastness of the Scandinavian wilderness. As a mentor, I create spaces where orientation, clarity, and change can unfold – far from everyday life, surrounded by nature.
Born in 1989 in Riga, Latvia, I moved to Germany in 2000. Even as a child, I felt a deep longing for nature, animals, and authenticity. At eleven, I knew that one day I would work with sled dogs. Back then it was a dream – today it’s my everyday life.
I first took the secure path: Master of Science in Chemistry, research, industry, predictability… But my soul kept calling north. Sweden never let me go. I returned year after year – and since 2020, I finally live my dream.

I believe that change happens when people are given time, nature, and genuine connection.

Jeldrik – Guide/Chef/Back Office

Born in 1990 in Laubach, Germany, I grew up surrounded by nature, dogs, and a thirst for adventure. Even as a child, I built huts, shelters, and dreams – mostly by hand, often outdoors, rarely still.
After training as a chef in 2006, I worked many years in gastronomy. Cooking, baking, caring for people – it’s in my blood. But I missed nature.
In 2019, the dream became real: working as a dog handler on a husky farm in Sweden. Months spent side by side with sled dogs followed – and in 2020, I met Anna.
Today, I live my dream in northern Sweden: cooking for guests, caring for the dogs, maintaining the farm, repairing, planning routes, packing sleds, and making tours possible. I’m not a man of many words, but one you can count on.
